So You Want To Be A Peer Health Educator?
- You must take the course UK100: Peer Health Education, which is currently offered once every semester. It is a 3-credit hour course for a letter grade.
- Upon successful completion of the course, a candidate must pass the CPE exam, which is part of the course curriculum.
- After these steps have been completed, the candidate must then fill out the CAUSE application and meet with the Director of the AHEO.
Peer educators are expected to act as a positive role model for the CAUSE, the Alcohol & Health Education Office, and UK at all times. While understanding that all students are human, there is an expectation that CAUSE members are an extension of the AHEO and are encouraged to maintain a positive and health pattern of behavior while a member of the program.
- If you are under 21 years of age, it will be required that you do not consume any alcoholic beverages.
- If you are 21 years of age or over and choose to consume alcohol, we ask that you do not drink at high-risk levels or to the point of intoxication.
In all cases, the advisor retains the right to address any student concerns based upon a CAUSE member’s performance inside and outside of the program experience.
- Pay for scholarship members: $200/semester for all / $400/semester for officers.
- Involvement in an important, dynamic, proactive program.
